Work Begins On Baprola–Harphool Vihar Road After Long Delay

Construction has finally started on the long-awaited upgrade of the Baprola Village–Harphool Vihar road in Delhi’s Vikaspuri Assembly constituency. Health and Transport Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh broke ground on the project, ending years of disruption for commuters, particularly the schoolchildren who use the route each day.

The road links several large neighbourhoods and provides access to two schools, including the government school in Baprola Village. Once resurfaced, it is expected to benefit some 3 000–3 500 pupils and thousands of residents from Baprola Village, G-2 Jai Vihar, Prashant Enclave, Bajrang Chowk and Harphool Vihar.

“Infrastructure is about safe, swift and dignified mobility,” Dr Singh said. “Fulfilling this long-standing demand will markedly improve daily journeys—especially for our children.” He added that, under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Government is accelerating delayed schemes with an emphasis on pedestrian safety.

The minister also oversaw the planting of 501 trees under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign, which invites citizens to plant at least one sapling in their mother’s honour. “These trees symbolise our collective duty to protect the environment,” he noted, urging residents city-wide to join the initiative for a greener, healthier Delhi.
