52 Trains to Get Extra Halts on Central Railway Routes

The Ministry of Railways has introduced additional halts for 52 trains at 22 stations across the Central Railway network as part of an experimental initiative to improve passenger convenience. The move spans multiple divisions—Mumbai, Pune, Solapur, Bhusaval, and Nagpur—with the changes coming into effect from 3 and 4 September.

In the Mumbai Division, 14 trains will receive new halts across four stations. Pune Division leads the expansion with 22 trains gaining stops at 11 stations. Solapur and Bhusaval divisions will each see six trains halting at three and two stations, respectively, while four trains in Nagpur Division will get stops at two additional stations.

These new halts will be monitored over the coming months, and their effectiveness will be evaluated before finalising permanent changes, according to Central Railway authorities.

At Igatpuri station, new halts will be introduced for key services including:

  • CSMT–Gondia Vidarbha Express and its return
  • CSMT–Amravati Superfast Express and its return
  • Dadar–Sainagar Shirdi Express and its return
  • CSMT–Jabalpur Garibrath Express and its return

In the Konkan region, Pen station will serve as a new stop for the Diva–Sawantwadi Road Express and its return journey, enhancing connectivity for local passengers. Roha station will now accommodate halts for the Dadar–Sawantwadi Road Tutari Express and its return leg.

Bhiwandi Road station has been added as a halt for the Jodhpur–Bengaluru Express from 4 September, improving long-distance travel options for commuters.

Central Railway has urged passengers to consult updated timetables and plan their journeys accordingly based on these new halts.

Meanwhile, Western Railway will operate six pairs of special local trains between Churchgate and Virar during the night of 6–7 September to manage increased footfall for Anant Chaturdashi Ganpati immersion processions. These services aim to ensure smooth travel for devotees across Mumbai and surrounding areas. Passengers are advised to check train schedules in advance to avoid inconvenience.
