HCC to build longest cable stayed bridge for Indian Railways

Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) has bagged a contract worth Rs 368.6 crore from IRCON International for building the longest cable stayed bridge for the Indian Railways, including its approaches across river Anji Khad in Jammu and Kashmir. The completion time of the project is 36 months.
 
This bridge will connect tunnel T2 and T3 on Katra-Banihal section of Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link project. The total length of the bridge is 473.25 m including its approaches across river Anji Khad. With a 290-m-long main span, this will be the longest cable stayed bridge for the Indian Railways.
 
HCC reportedly said that it is a matter of great pride that the company is associated with IRCON in the successful completion of many of its projects. The firm has to credit over 365 bridges and 320 km of complex tunnelling in some of the most challenging geologies in the world, and has been actively participating in creating responsible infrastructure in the country.
