Railways to produce 1,000 MW solar energy

To reduce carbon footprints, the Indian Railways has taken several green initiatives and will produce 1,000 MW solar energy. Letters of intent have already been signed by the Railway Ministry with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to formalise joint cooperation in environmental conservation. The focus of the partnership is on waste management, reduction in water consumption and sustainable public procurement.
