MMRDA floats tender for package 4 MTHL project

On Friday, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) floated tenders for constructing Package 4 of the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) project on a design and build basis.

MTHL, a 21.8-km six-lane sea link road, will connect Chirle in Navi Mumbai and Sewri in Mumbai. Work on the project is likely to be completed in October 2023. Officials told the media that 35% to 40% of civil works have been completed till now.

The MMRDA had received an Official Development Assistance loan from Japan International Cooperation to fund MTHL.

It has granted contracts for the three civil packages of the project, including a 21.8 km distance.

While Package 1 comprises 10.38-km long bridge construction across the Mumbai Bay, covering the Sewri interchange, Package 2 includes a 7.807-km long bridge construction across the Mumbai Bay, covering the Shivaji Nagar interchange.

Package 3 includes a 3.613-km long viaduct construction involving interchanges at state highway 54 and national highway 4B near Chirle in Navi Mumbai.

According to an official, the MMRDA has invited sealed tenders from eligible bidders for the Package 4 construction. The tender is primarily for design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the intelligent transport system, toll management, highway and bridge street lighting, electrical works, construction of toll plazas and administrative buildings, involving the command control centre.
