Revitalization of 80 Railway Stations in Madhya Pradesh

In a significant leap for railway infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh, 80 stations, including major hubs such as Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur, will be revamped under the 'Amrit Stations' initiative. This announcement was made by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw during a video conference on Monday.

The Union Budget for 2025-26 has allocated Rs 14,745 million for the expansion and modernisation of the state’s rail network. The budget also includes the approval of 31 new railway projects covering 5,869 km, with a proposed investment of Rs 1,04,987 million.

As part of a Rs 2,708 million redevelopment plan, 80 stations across the state will be upgraded. Key stations earmarked for the project include Bhopal, Indore Junction, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Satna, and Bina. Other locations such as Amla, Ashoknagar, Gwalior, and Khajuraho Junction will also see improvements, making train travel more accessible and comfortable.

In addition, major stations like Rani Kamlapati, Indore, and Jabalpur will receive substantial redevelopment investments amounting to Rs 1,950 million.

The Railway Ministry is also pushing forward with safety upgrades, including the installation of the 'Kavach' safety system across 3,572 km of rail routes. This initiative is expected to reduce accidents and enhance the overall safety of passengers. Currently, work is underway on 1,422 km of tracks equipped with the new safety technology.

To elevate the travel experience, four Vande Bharat Express trains are now operational in Madhya Pradesh, connecting 14 districts and providing 18 unique stoppages. Along with these, 69 lifts, 41 escalators, and Wi-Fi facilities have been installed at 408 stations across the state, offering greater convenience to passengers.
