RLDA invites bids for commercial lease of Prime Land at Kota Junction

The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), an official body of Indian Railways, announced that it is seeking bids to lease a vacant plot of land measuring 2128 sqm at Kota Junction in Kota, Rajasthan.

The land, which is situated near platform number 1 in the Kota Division of the West Central Railway, will be leased for a period of 45 years, with a reserved price of Rs 82 million.

A pre-bid meeting was held online on June 16, 2023, and witnessed the participation of numerous local and national-level developers who expressed great interest in the project. The deadline for submitting e-bids has been set for August 1, 2023.

The site can be accessed from the circulating area of Kota Railway Station, which currently has a width of 18 m but is proposed to be widened to 22 m. The land is surrounded by the Railway Colony to the north, Kota Junction to the east, the circulating area of Kota Junction to the south, and the Bhimganj Mandi Commercial & Residential area to the west.

This strategically located land parcel, near Kota Railway Junction, holds significant economic potential and is expected to undergo substantial commercial development in the near future. Being a focal point for trade and commerce, the area benefits from excellent connectivity to all parts of Kota. Additionally, the region offers extensive local public transport facilities, ensuring an excellent return on investment for potential developers.

Furthermore, as the land is part of the RLDA integrated ecosystem, developers will be able to leverage the commercial growth in the region. Ved Parkash Dudeja, the Vice Chairman of RLDA, highlighted that Kota is a vibrant commercial activity hub with diverse demographics. Each year, the city attracts numerous aspiring engineering and medical college students from across the country.

The commercial development of this land will provide greater convenience for students and their families in pursuing their aspirations. Moreover, as we develop the land in and around Kota, we are confident that tourism in the region will be further enhanced as more people visit Kota to experience its rich cultural heritage.

Kota, located on the banks of the Chambal River and approximately 240 km from Jaipur, is the third most populous city in Rajasthan, with a population of 1.2 million. As the administrative headquarters for the entire region, Kota is a bustling city that annually attracts students and tourists from all over India.

Apart from its cultural heritage, Kota is renowned as a major coaching hub for competitive examinations and is well-known for its engineering and medical coaching institutes.

The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) is a statutory authority under the Ministry of Railways, responsible for the development of railway land. Its development plan includes leasing commercial sites, redeveloping colonies, improving stations, and establishing multi-functional complexes.

During the current fiscal year, RLDA has successfully leased various sites, including locations in Waltax Road (Chennai), Ajmer (Rajasthan), Bijwasan (Delhi), Kharagpur, and Solapur (Maharashtra), earning a cumulative lease premium of Rs 16.22 billion. This amount includes railway assets worth approximately Rs 75.4 million, which will be developed in Kharagpur Railway Colony. Recently, RLDA awarded the station redevelopment works for CSMT Railway Station using the EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) model.
