Six Firms Shortlisted for Rs 12.9 Billion Gurugram Metro Work

The Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has shortlisted six out of eight companies as eligible for the Rs 12.86 billion construction tender for Phase 1 of the Gurugram Metro project. A senior GMRL official stated that financial bids are currently under evaluation, and the contract will be awarded to the lowest compliant bidder by the end of July.
Last week, the general consultant tender was finalised and awarded to a joint venture between DB and Hill International. GMRL is aiming to commence construction work at the earliest.
Phase 1 includes a 15.22 km viaduct, 15 stations, a 1.85 km spur to Dwarka Expressway, and a ramp to the upcoming depot in Sector 33. Metro stations to be built in this phase include Millennium City Centre (linked to DMRC via an interchange), Sector 45, Cyber Park (Sector 46), Sector 47, Subhash Chowk, Sector 48, Sector 33, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar Phase 6, Sector 10, Sector 37, Basai, Sector 9 and Sector 101.
To fast-track work, GMRL has resolved the issue of relocating high-tension power lines across three pylons on Sector 43 Road. These will now be laid underground, with the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) agreeing to share half the cost. This will allow metro construction on the road’s central verge and provide scope for a future extension to Golf Course Road, connecting with the Rapid Metro if required.
The Gurugram Metro project will unfold in three phases. Phase 2 will link Sector 9 to Cyber Hub, while Phase 3 will see the development of a metro depot in Sector 33.
