Larsen and Toubro, Tamil Nadu Investment Development Corporation Ltd (TIDCO) and Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd (TNPL) have built a shipyard at Kattupalli and a minor port. Spread over 810 acre, the shipyard is the largest in the country.
