Adani Ports to operate berth at Haldia Dock Complex

The Kolkata port authorities gave the letter of award to Gautam Adani, founder of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ), for mechanisation and up-gradation of a berth in the Haldia Dock Complex (HDC).

Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port (SMP) said that the project envisages incorporating environment friendly, fully mechanised technology for managing dry bulk cargo.

The Berth no 2, where the company would work, would provide a capacity of 3.744 million metric tons per annum, and the investment would be nearly Rs 298.26 crore.

The project is likely to begin in the fourth quarter (Q4) of the financial year (FY) 2024-24.

APSEZ outbid Ripley & Co by quoting a royalty of Rs 75 per tonne for the rights to mechanise and operate the dry bulk cargo handling berth at HDC.

Initially, Adani revealed interest in the privatisation of Kidderpore dock in Kolkata but later did not participate in the financial bid.

Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd is the largest integrated ports and logistics company in India.
