COVID-19: BMC permits housing societies to hold vaccine drives

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has allowed housing societies to tie up with private hospitals and conduct vaccination drives within the society premises, subject to stock availability.

These vaccines will come at a cost set by the government for private hospitals. While some housing societies are already in talks with the BMC, a few others are trying to set up their infrastructure. Hospitals will have to ensure all protocols are followed during the drive.

The vaccines will be available at a fixed cost by the government for private hospitals. While a few societies are already in talks with the BMC, others are managing to set up a suitable infrastructure.

Along with this, housing societies, industrial complexes, banks, and corporate sectors can tie up with private hospitals and get the vaccination at their doorstep, municipal commissioner of health Suresh Kakani told TOI.

The Lodha Group, in a mail to residents across their projects, said that they have started working with the authorities to arrange vaccination drives. A spokesperson stated that they were getting permission from the municipal corporation.

On behalf of the 11 societies in Dosti Acres, Wadala, NGO Friends of Wadala East has requested developers to make community halls available for the vaccination drive set-up.
