Pune Smart City wins award in open data governance category

A Pune Smart City project has won an award in the open data governance category in the smart cities competition organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited (PSCDCL) and Pune Municipal Corporation, the award was presented in the open data governance category at the recently concluded conference on 'smart cities smart urbanisation'.

The ministry had arranged a series of events to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India's Independence as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM). The Smart Cities and Smart Urbanisation conference was organised from 18-20 April 2022 in Surat. The open data competition was part of the Digital Governance Pavilion.

Several interactive workshops and immersive sessions were organised in this pavilion to showcase the advantages obtained from digital governance in cities. They showed basic real-time data, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) cases, and the use of platforms, such as India Urban Data Exchange (IUDX) and Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC).

A live session of Surat ICCC was shown at the pavilion. The space was used to host a data game for stakeholders to understand the open data value.

As per civic officials, the Smart City has won awards here for different works and projects, including light-house, place-making, and Smart public Wi-Fi. The lighthouse project is also one of the most prosperous projects of the corporation. Lighthouse training centres have been designed to empower and upskill disadvantaged youth.

The civic officials said that they have worked on different elements of Smart Cities, including Governance and Planning, Smart Mobility and Connectivity, Smart and Sustainable development, and Urban Intelligence.
