Grandweld Shipyards has signed an agreement with Bahri Logistics, the integrated logistics business unit of Saudi Arabia’s national shipping carrier Bahri, to design and build two advanced offshore support vessels. The partnership brings together Grandweld Shipyards’ engineering and shipbuilding capabilities with Bahri Logistics’ more than four decades of maritime, logistics and offshore operational expertise. The collaboration aims to strengthen specialised offshore service capabilities in Saudi Arabia. Under the agreement, Grandweld will design and construct the vessels to meet Bahri Logistics’ offshore operational requirements at Ras Tanura Port, one of the world’s key energy hubs and a major gateway for Saudi Arabia’s oil exports. The agreement was formalised during a signing ceremony held at Grandweld’s office in Dubai Maritime City, attended by representatives from both organisations and Grandweld Shipyards’ parent company Stanford Marine. The vessels are scheduled for delivery this year. Jamal Al Abki, General Manager of Grandweld Shipyards, said the partnership reflects confidence in the company’s ability to deliver advanced vessels for complex offshore environments. He added that the project highlights the UAE’s shipbuilding capabilities under the Make it in the Emirates initiative. Eng. Soror Basalom, President of Bahri Integrated Logistics, said the agreement supports the company’s efforts to expand offshore capabilities and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s logistics infrastructure through innovative and efficient maritime solutions. The new vessels will be equipped with advanced navigation, communication and safety systems to support efficient and reliable offshore operations. They will serve multiple functions, including vessel clearance procedures, maintenance assistance, crew transfers, emergency response, technical support for vessels and offshore facilities, and inspection activities. The vessels are expected to enhance Bahri Logistics’ offshore operations by improving service continuity, operational flexibility and response capabilities for clients across the energy and industrial sectors. For Grandweld Shipyards, the project highlights its in-house design and manufacturing expertise in developing customised vessels suited for demanding maritime applications. The collaboration further strengthens the company’s position as a regional maritime solutions provider capable of delivering vessels meeting international standards. The partnership also contributes to the development of Saudi Arabia’s maritime and energy logistics ecosystem, supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objective of building a globally competitive maritime industry.
