Mahindra & Mahindra rolls out ‘Oxygen on Wheels’ in Maharashtra

Mahindra & Mahindra has introduced Oxygen on Wheels (O2W), a free service initiative to deliver oxygen cylinders to hospitals and medical centres in Maharashtra.

Currently, O2W has already been installed in 100 Bolero pickup trucks. The service is available in seven cities in the state — Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chakan, Nasik and Nagpur, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra told the media.

The Mumbai-based automotive manufacturer already has plans to extend its services to other parts of the country. Mahindra is in discussions with the officials to bring this service to cities like Delhi, where lack of oxygen has led to a disaster. The company also aims to deliver oxygen cylinders directly to the homes of COVID-19 patients.

Earlier this month, Mahindra shared images of 70 Bolero pickup trucks to deliver oxygen on social media. Mahindra Logistics has implemented its initiative ‘Oxygen on Wheels’ to bridge the gap between oxygen-producing plants to hospitals and homes. As of now, Mahindra & Mahindra has successfully helped deliver 61 jumbo cylinders to 13 hospitals in need.

The second wave of COVID-19 has created a crisis in India. With a sharp increase of more than 3 lakh new patients per day, India is looking to ramp up oxygen production, with several industries stepping in to supply oxygen for emergency medical use.
