Panel To Chart Logistics Growth Plan For Bhiwandi

Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant has announced the formation of a high level committee to map out the systematic expansion of Bhiwandi’s logistics sector. Responding to a Half Hour Discussion raised by MLA Rais Shaikh in the Legislative Assembly, Samant said the city’s location and existing facilities give it the potential to rank among Asia’s premier logistics hubs.

Large scale infrastructure development, he added, would not only reinforce Bhiwandi’s role as a distribution powerhouse but also create substantial job opportunities. The committee’s recommendations will underpin a new policy framework for the hub, and the minister urged local representatives to lend their full support.

Samant also addressed a recent tragedy in Kasimpura, Khandu Pada, where a child died after falling into a septic tank. A separate high level inquiry will examine the incident, and strict action will follow once the report is submitted.

VECV Sales Rise 7.8 Per Cent In May 2026

VE Commercial Vehicles recorded sales of 7,978 units in May 2026, compared to 7,401 units in May 2025, registering growth of 7.8 per cent.
