Drinking water supply scheme in Madhya Pradesh

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the system to provide pure drinking water to the rural as well as urban population has to be completed within the given time. As per the targets in the roadmap drafted for a self-sufficient Madhya Pradesh, the tap water scheme work in the state should be completed.

According to the Chief Minister, the engineers need to be posted in villages for better maintenance. His encouragement is directed towards the agency and officers-employees involved for mega project work to be completed in time.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that strict action will be taken against the ones responsible for causing any delay in project work. Post completion of the tap water schemes project, special Gram Sabhas will be established in the villages. Thereafter, the village will be a part of the “Har Ghar Jal” village category.

The Panchayat will be handed over the scheme upon completion of the scheme work. Also, the Village Water and Sanitation Committee officials will interact with the villagers. Prime Minister Modi will be sent letters of gratitude by the villagers for the implementation of the ambitious and necessary scheme.

On Monday, Public Health Engineering Department activities were reviewed by Chief Minister Chouhan in Mantralaya. Chouhan stated that pipelines are located in places where water sources are unsuccessful and point towards irregularity.

The department engineers should be making regular visits to their respective workplaces. The implementation of the plans must be continuously reviewed.

Engineers having knowledge about rural drinking water supply, irrigation pumps management, housing construction, electricity, and other related aspects should be posted in villages.

Training for pump and valve operation can be given in a few days. This is an employment opportunity for the younger population of the villages. Maintenance of the drinking water supply scheme as well as other schemes should be handed over to them. The training courses for the same will be between three to six months.
