Tripura CM Manik Saha Launches Water Projects, AI Grievance System

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday laid the foundation stones for a 6.81 MLD (million litres per day) surface water treatment plant and a 680 KL (kilolitre) overhead tank at College Tilla in Agartala. The projects are intended to strengthen the drinking water network in the state capital.

At an event at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, Saha also flagged off Rapid Response Team (RRT) vehicles and truck-mounted water tankers to support faster responses to civic issues. He launched an artificial intelligence-based interactive voice response (IVR) calling system and a dedicated WhatsApp grievance redressal system for residents.

The digital services will enable residents to register complaints, track the status of resolutions and submit feedback through their smartphones. The systems are designed to reduce administrative delays and improve accountability in the delivery of civic services across Agartala.

The chief minister said the initiatives reflected the state government’s focus on ensuring access to basic services while making administration more accessible. He linked the water and grievance systems to broader efforts to improve transparency, accountability and ease of access for citizens in Tripura.

The event was attended by Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, secretary Milind Ramteke, Jal Jeevan Mission chief executive officer Mihir Gop, senior state officials, municipal representatives and other attendees. Earlier in October, Saha said the government was implementing the Smart City Mission in Agartala and had prepared a master plan for modern infrastructure in all Nagar Panchayat and Municipal Council areas. He also highlighted plans for infrastructure development and beautification in the Agartala Municipal Corporation area.
