Coal ministry working on 1st-mile connectivity

The Ministry of Coal is actively working on developing the National Coal Logistic Plan, which includes First Mile Connectivity (FMC) through railway siding near coal mines, in order to improve India's energy security and realize the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat by reducing the reliance on imported coal.

The idea of first mile connectivity has emerged as a game-changer in the continued pursuit of sustainable development and environmental conservation. The transportation of coal is being transformed by this ground-breaking strategy, having a positive and long-lasting effect on the environment.

By employing conveyors or roadways to the closest railway siding, First Mile Connectivity removes the need for coal to be transported by road in mining locations.

Coal is moved through a road or conveyor belt to the closest railway siding.

FMC helps to create a cleaner and healthier environment by reducing the amount of trucks on the road and the negative environmental effects that come with them, such as air pollution, traffic jams, and road damage.
