Indonesian Co lowest bidder in CIL coal import tender

In the largest coal import tender by Coal India, Bara Daya Energi India has emerged as the front-runner. The next-lowest bid was made by Adani Enterprises. Due to insufficient paperwork, CIL had last week rejected the company during technical examination for a different tender for the importation of 2.4 million tonnes of coal. Adani Enterprises had won the contract by submitting the lowest proposal, beating out Mohit Minerals and Chettinad Logistics. Coal India opened the bids on Thursday for the delivery of 6 MT of imported coal through the eastern and western coasts. Bara Daya and Adani were the only bidders.

Adani Enterprises submitted a bid of Rs 5,080 crore, compared to Bara Daya's initial price of Rs 4,331 crore for the eastern coast project. Adani Enterprises filed a proposal for Rs 5,035 crore, while Bara Daya Energi offered Rs 4,497 crore for the western coast tender.
