Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna central public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) on 15 June 2026 at OIL House in Noida. The agreement was executed by the chairman and managing director of OIL and the director general of CSIR in the presence of the managing director of Numaligarh Refinery Limited, other directors of OIL and senior officials from both organisations.

The MoU seeks to foster collaborative research, innovation and technology development across the energy sector with an emphasis on upstream and downstream oil and gas operations. The MoU establishes mechanisms for knowledge exchange, capacity building and joint academic collaboration to accelerate deployment of research outcomes. The Public Relations Department in Noida issued the release on behalf of the parties.

Both organisations will draw on institutional expertise and laboratory infrastructure to pursue applied research, technology validation and standardisation of processes relevant to the oil and gas value chain. The arrangement will also support development of human capital through training programmes and researcher exchanges. Stakeholders will monitor outcomes against performance indicators and timelines agreed under the MoU.
