GreenCo Summit Unveils New Sustainability Initiatives

The GreenCo Summit 2026, organised by the CII GreenCo Council at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, sustainability experts and financial institutions to accelerate India's transition towards a net-zero and circular economy.

Held under the theme "Scaling Net Zero and Circularity: Commitment, Innovation, Collaboration", the summit served as a platform to discuss industrial sustainability, resource efficiency, clean energy adoption, circular economy practices and climate resilience.

A key highlight of the event was the launch of three industry initiatives aimed at advancing sustainable industrial transformation. These included the CII Material Circularity Guidelines and Certification, designed to help industries assess and improve material circularity; the CII Green Supply Chain Coalition for the Automotive Sector, focused on strengthening sustainability across automotive value chains; and the CII Heat Pump Alliance, a collaborative platform intended to accelerate the adoption of energy-efficient heat pump technologies and support industrial decarbonisation.

R Mukundan, President, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), emphasised the growing importance of sustainability as a business imperative. "The future belongs to companies that place sustainability at the core of their business. Green companies are not just contributing to environmental progress; they are building the foundation for long-term resilience, competitiveness and economic growth," he said.

Jamshyd N Godrej, Chairman, CII Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre, noted that decarbonisation has become an economic necessity and highlighted the role of industry in driving sustainability through resource efficiency, innovation and green energy adoption.

The summit also featured discussions on net-zero pathways, sustainable supply chains, industrial decarbonisation, clean energy transitions, water stewardship and emerging green technologies. Industry leaders shared insights on integrating sustainability into core business operations while leveraging technology and collaboration to enhance competitiveness.

According to CII GreenCo, more than 1,600 companies across over 27 sectors are currently engaged with its sustainability frameworks and initiatives. The organisation said the newly launched programmes will further support industries in scaling net-zero action, accelerating circularity and building resilient, future-ready businesses.
