Uttarakhand govt gets Rs 22.50 cr from Minister of Power

In the virtual presence of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, Minister of Power Shri R K Singh today presented a cheque for Rs 22.5 crore to Uttarakhand Minister of Disaster Management Shri D S Rawat.

Shri R K Singh applauded the swift action taken by the Power sector CPSEs to support the state of Uttarakhand. Singh conveyed the strong commitment of the central government to support Uttarakhand especially in this time of crisis. Singh also appreciated Power CPSEs for coming forward to support people in times of need as done during the Covid-19 crisis as well.

Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Power Minister and thanked all CPSEs for their dedication to the state during difficult times.

Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, Secretary of State for Power, Shri Alok Kumar, and CMDs of Power CPSUs were also present at the event.

On the 17th and 18th of October, 2021, Uttarakhand experienced unusually high and unprecedented rainfall in some areas, resulting in the deaths of several people and severe damage to infrastructure and public utilities in many districts.

The power sector CPSEs contributed Rs 22,50,00,000 to the Uttar State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) in a bid to unite for restoration work in flood-ravaged Uttarakhand. The Secretary of Power, the CEOs of all the power sector CPSEs, and other Ministry of Power officials were present at the event. The USDMA received contributions from the following CPSES to show their solidarity and support for the development efforts in Uttarakhand.

478 schools in Uttarakhand's Bageshwar, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Pauri, Chamoli, Almora, Champawat, and Pithoragarh, as well as 28 health centres in Uttarakhand's Almora, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, and Pithoragarh, will be reconstructed or restored as part of the project. The USDMA will carry out the project with financial assistance from the Power Sector CPSEs under CSR.
