76 MW projects of 90 MW RE projects cleared: Telangana energy minister

Telangana’s Minister of Energy G Jagadish Reddy told the media that the government received applications for the power generation of 90 MW, out of which 76 MW renewable energy projects had been cleared.

Many industrialists were not coming forward to install capacity to generate power from waste because of the stringent norms for waste disposal.

On Monday, in a legislative council, Reddy said that the other reason for not many people wanting to install the power plant was because of the power purchase cost set by the Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), Members of the Legislative Council (MLC) and former MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha, said that the Telangana government provides the basic infrastructure in the new mandals. Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTCs) and Mandal Praja Parishad Presidents (MPPs) should be given the power to host flags in their mandal offices.

MLC Kavitha said in the legislative council that there was a shortage of Rs 500 crore from the government, and CM K Chandrasekhar Rao sanctioned the amount to the local bodies.

Some issues still persist at the Mandal level as Mandal Praja Parishad offices do not have proper buildings and furniture, Kavitha said.

She further said that by making an amendment, MPTCs and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs) should be empowered to host flags in the government schools.
