BEE calls for state’s focus on energy-saving goals

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has advised Andhra Pradesh to accelerate energy efficiency efforts in order to meet the national energy savings target of 150 million tonnes of oil equivalent by 2030. This will save 750 billion units of electricity, resulting in an 887 million tonne reduction in CO2. Andhra Pradesh should focus on identifying major energy-consuming sectors, according to BEE Director General Abhay Bakre. He requested that state officials set sector-specific energy reduction goals. He also advised the state to investigate the potential for energy-saving investments and to prioritise energy-efficiency-related investments that will help boost the economy, improve energy performance in key sectors, create jobs, and improve the environment.
