CEA approves transmission lines for hybrid power project in TN

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) sanctioned transmission lines for evacuating power from the 500 MW hybrid power project of JSW Renew Energy in Tamil Nadu's Tuticorin.

The overhead line is covered under a 230 kV D/C transmission line from the generation switchyards of JSW Renew Energy to the Tuticorin II PGCIL pooling substation. It passes through, around, and between 33 villages in Tuticorin's Kayathar Taluk.

Tata Power and Tata Motors have partnered to create a 7 MW solar rooftop project at Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle facility in Pune's Chikhali. This is the third phase of a joint 17 MW on-site solar project created by the two companies, of which 10 MW was installed prior. The Tata Motors PV manufacturing facility will be home to India’s largest on-site solar project with this latest installation.

Recently, Tata Motors and Tata Power signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the project. The installation is likely to produce 23 million units of electricity, mitigating 523,000 tons of carbon dioxide. It would be equal to planting 836,000 trees over a lifetime.

Okinawa Autotech and Tacita inked a contract to create a joint venture for global futuristic electric two-wheeler and powertrain manufacturing. The new firm will be based in India and start production in 2023. An Italian manufacturer of electric and performance motorcycles, Tacita, will deliver the powertrain – controller, battery packs, motor, and BMS. Okinawa will provide the local development of the future product and its production line.

An independent global renewable energy power producer and developer, Akuo, and the Tonga Islands’ public grid operator, Tonga Power, declared that they commissioned Tonga 1 & 2, the largest battery energy storage system in the South Pacific with a total capacity of 29.2 MWh and 16.5 MW. The two battery storage units use storage global enterprise management (GEM), the innovative modular energy storage container technology designed by the Akuo Group.

Lightsource bp secured a fishery solar project of 150 MW in Taiwan, co-developed by Green Rock Energy. The fishery solar project will be co-locating solar with aquaculture.

The Budai project would be one of the largest fishery solar farms in Taiwan, generating 750 employment opportunities during construction, which is likely to start in June 2023. The project will create 210,000 MWh of renewable electricity a year, enough to power approximately 43,000 homes and save 133,770 tons of carbon dioxide emissions yearly.
