Goa invites bids for rooftop solar in legislative assembly complex

Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) will set up a 40 kWp grid-connected solar rooftop power plant in the Goa legislative assembly complex in Porvorim.

GEDA has floated tenders for the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the power plant, comprising operation and maintenance for five years.

The 40 kWp grid-connected solar rooftop power plant will be established on the third floor of the secretariat building for Rs 30 lakh.

The grid-connected rooftop solar power plant will be connected on a net metering basis, where the surplus power produced by the building will be provided back to the power grid.

GEDA has said that the contractor will not be permitted to puncture the RCC roof but should design and build the plant without damaging it.

The agency said that the establishment of the solar plant should be done on a metal sheet, which would include an elevated truss framed structure that would be constructed on the flat roof on the building's third floor.

An official told the media that till March 2021, Goa had more than 250 solar prosumers-consumers and generators of solar power. Over 60% of these are domestic consumers, and the remaining commercial and industrial consumers.

Additionally, various state and central government offices, companies and educational organisations have installed solar power projects comprising PWD offices, Goa University, GEDA, MPT, NIT and Raj Bhavan, among others.
