To reach its climate change goals, India is developing a plan to start producing nuclear electricity in
addition to its renewable energy programme. Incentives for the private sector to build nuclear
power reactors in public-private partnership models could be included in the policy interventions.
Small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs), which require less space and have lower capital costs than conventional nuclear power facilities, will be the focus.
