KEC International Wins Rs. 10.14 bn T&D Orders in India

KEC International has secured new orders worth Rs. 10.14 bn in India’s transmission and distribution (T&D) business, the company said on October 10. The awards include its first order to establish a 765 kV transmission line for evacuating electricity from a pumped storage plant in Western India.

The company said the orders were received in the normal course of business. In separate filings with the National Stock Exchange of India and BSE, Suraj Eksambekar, company secretary and compliance officer, confirmed that the projects mentioned in the announcement formed part of routine business operations.

The pumped storage plant-related project was awarded by an existing client, according to KEC International. The company said the order represented an important milestone for its T&D business as it addresses rising power infrastructure requirements linked to the renewables sector.

With the latest awards, KEC International’s order intake for the year to date has exceeded Rs. 96 bn. The company operates as an infrastructure engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) provider across power transmission and distribution, civil infrastructure, transportation, renewable energy, oil and gas pipelines, and cables and conductors.

KEC International is the flagship company of the RPG Group and has a presence in more than 110 countries through EPC projects and the supply of towers and cables. Its latest order win adds to its activity in India’s power infrastructure market and expands its involvement in projects supporting renewable energy evacuation.

Shares of KEC International closed at Rs. 365.75 on the NSE on October 10, up Rs. 16.15, or 4.62 per cent, from the previous close. The stock’s movement followed the company’s announcement of the new orders and the update on its year-to-date order intake.

Cement Prices Likely to Rise Rs. 10-15 per Bag from Mid-October

Cement manufacturers in India are likely to raise prices by Rs. 10-15 per bag from mid-October, as they seek to offset persistent increases in power and fuel costs. Emkay Research said its channel checks indicated a high probability of an increase from October 12, supported by the start of the busy construction season and favourable demand-supply conditions.
