NTPC Tenders 1 GW Solar Project and 3.3 GWh BESS

NTPC Renewable Energy has invited bids for a 1 GW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic project at Kambadur in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. Separately, NTPC Green Energy has tendered the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) package for a 3,300 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at the NTPC Renewable Energy solar plant in Khavda, Gujarat.

The solar project will be developed in two 500 MW blocks under the EPC mode. The contract covers design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, packing, transportation, storage, installation, testing and commissioning, including the supply of solar photovoltaic modules.

The successful bidder will also provide operation and maintenance services for the solar plant for three years after commissioning. The tender covers the complete project delivery cycle, from equipment supply and logistics to installation and testing.

The Khavda BESS will be developed across four blocks at PSS-1. Three blocks will each have a capacity of 300 MW/900 MWh, while the fourth will provide 200 MW/600 MWh, taking the aggregate storage capacity to 3,300 MWh.

The BESS contract will be executed on a turnkey basis and includes design, engineering, supply, transportation, storage, installation and commissioning of the grid-connected system. The selected bidder will provide comprehensive operation and maintenance services for 15 years. The system will have a design life of 25 years from commissioning, including its batteries, with capacity degradation assessed under the bidder’s proposal for daily single-cycle operation. The batteries must also be rated for a minimum operational life of 25 years under a single-cycle-per-day application.

Cement Prices Likely to Rise Rs. 10-15 per Bag from Mid-October

Cement manufacturers in India are likely to raise prices by Rs. 10-15 per bag from mid-October, as they seek to offset persistent increases in power and fuel costs. Emkay Research said its channel checks indicated a high probability of an increase from October 12, supported by the start of the busy construction season and favourable demand-supply conditions. The sector had implemented similar rate adjustments of Rs. 10-15 per bag during the first quarter, but the increases were insufficient to cover higher operating costs. Prices also softened during July and August because of the monsoon, wid..
