Coal paucity threatens 15,000 MW power projects

The shortage of coal may adversely affect the new capacity addition plans in power sector to the tune of 15,000 MW in the current fiscal. Coal availability for power plants designed to run on indigenous coal would be only 417.5 mn tonne in the current fiscal,as against the requirement of 480 mn tonne. The Ministry of Power has stated that it will now supply 319 mn tonne to power sector.
