Zoomlion Showcases Green Mining Solutions

Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology hosted its 2026 Global Mining Machinery Expo in Changsha, China, on 16 May, bringing together more than 500 customers and industry partners from nearly 30 countries and regions. The event was held at the Earthmoving Machinery Park of Zoomlion Smart City.

The expo highlighted Zoomlion’s progress in heavy-load machinery for open-pit mines, electric and hybrid equipment for green mining, and autonomous haulage and mine management systems. Three flagship models were displayed: the ZWL360 hybrid wheeled loader, the ZTE450HEV hybrid electric-drive mining truck and the ZE1650G dual-engine mining excavator.

The ZWL360, described by the company as the world’s largest hybrid wheeled loader, has a rated load of 36 tonnes and 1,495 kW of combined power. It is designed to deliver over 15 per cent energy savings compared with similar machines. The ZTE450HEV offers a 240-tonne payload and uses a diesel-electric drivetrain with energy recovery systems. The ZE1650G excavator operates with two QSM15 engines and is built for harsh mining conditions.

Zoomlion also displayed over 40 new-energy mining products and components, including the ZT160HEV hybrid mining truck and ZT165EV pure electric mining truck. The company said its electric and hybrid machines are already operating across several mines globally, with individual units recording more than 8,000 hours of service.

The company also presented its ZM-i Adaptive Super Energy Management System, which powers hybrid machines through a true hybrid architecture that allows the diesel engine and electric motor to operate simultaneously under heavy load. According to company testing, the system has delivered a 20 per cent reduction in fuel consumption and an 11.2 per cent improvement in operating efficiency.

Autonomous haulage was another key focus at the event. Zoomlion said nearly 100 driverless mining trucks are already operating across multiple sites in China, with capabilities including autonomous navigation, obstacle avoidance and coordinated work with excavators. The company demonstrated a coordinated dig-load-haul operation using the ZE985G remote-controlled excavator, ZT118EV pure electric mining truck and ZT160HEV hybrid mining truck.

Zoomlion also introduced Mine Smart Supervision Platform 2.0 and Mine Operation & Diagnosis Platform 2.0. These platforms stream equipment data from the field to the cloud, enabling real-time monitoring, fault prediction and maintenance tracking.

The company further showcased an intelligent mine assessment system that analyses site conditions, models energy consumption and recommends suitable equipment configurations for individual mines. The system has already been deployed across more than 150 mines and completed over 200 customised project plans.

Yuan Ye, Vice President, Zoomlion, said the company would continue strengthening its technical capabilities to drive innovation and deepen partnerships with customers worldwide.
