Telangana to get a Rs 1,800 crore temple project

The Telangana Government has allotted Rs 1,800 crore for the development of the ambitious Yadadri temple located about two hours from Hyderabad. According to reports, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandresekhar Rao wants the upcoming temple at Yadadri to be on par with Andhra Pradesh’s Tirumala, which is the country’s richest temple.

A special purpose body for the development of the Yadadri temple has been instated by the government, and it employs around 500 sculptors. Phase-I of this project is expected to be completed by May 2018. As the temple shrine is located among hills, four-lane roads will also be constructed for better connectivity.

The temple complex will span 11 acre and will include seven temple domes, with the main dome extending up to 100 ft and tourist facilities that will consist of cottages, parking and housing for priests sprawling across 1,400 acre.

As per reports, the temple will have an estimated footfall ranging between 10,000-30,000 per day. The state government is reportedly of the view that the construction of the temple complex will boost economic activity in the region.
