GreenPro awards honour 143 firms for sustainability efforts

The CII GreenPro Summit 2026 concluded with the GreenPro Awards, recognising 143 organisations for developing environmentally sustainable products and adopting green manufacturing practices.

Speaking at the event, Madhuri Misal, Maharashtra's Minister of State for Urban Development, called for coordinated action by governments, industry and citizens to reduce India's carbon footprint. She said sustainability goals can be achieved only through wider adoption of environmentally responsible practices across sectors.

Misal said governments are promoting renewable energy, waste management, recycling and cleaner technologies through policy support and incentives. She also suggested that reducing GST on environmentally sustainable products could encourage their production and adoption.

Referring to the transition to electric mobility, she said the deployment of electric buses must be supported by adequate charging infrastructure, skilled manpower and maintenance capabilities to ensure long-term success.

The GreenPro Awards, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), recognise organisations for environmentally preferable products and sustainable manufacturing practices. The event highlighted the role of voluntary certification frameworks in complementing regulatory efforts and promoting continuous improvement in industrial sustainability.

Other dignitaries at the awards ceremony included Pratik D. Bharne, Regional Director, Central Pollution Control Board; Kamal Bali, Chairman, CII GreenPro Council; Poorva Keskar, Past Chair, CII-IGBC Pune Chapter; and Tushar Yeole, Co-Chairman, CII-IGBC Pune Chapter.
