Proposal for property tax hike rejected by South Delhi civic body

The BJP-led standing committee in their budget proposals, has not imposed a new tax. According to a statement, they announced a property tax waiver for previous years for the recently-regularised unauthorised colonies residents under their jurisdiction.

The statement further stated that SDMC Chairman, BK Oberoi rejected a proposal for increasing taxes on residential as well as commercial properties in the civic body 2022-23 budget.

An announcement that a total of eight new health centers will be established under the jurisdiction of SDMC was made by Oberoi.

The North, South, and East civic bodies of Delhi have to go to the polls before the beginning of May.

All the new health care centers will comprise a computerised OPD registration facility.

There has been an increase in the estimates of SDMC's revised budget from Rs 4,668.26 crore for 2021-22 to Rs 4,826.43 crore for 2022-23.

Additionally, the establishment of a resource center in every SDMC zone for the welfare of Children With Special Needs (CWSN) was announced by Oberoi.

There will also be an increase in the Boys' Fund which is an amount handed over to the principals for taking care of the smaller expenses of the students. The Boys' Fund was previously Rs 40 per year, which will now be Rs 100 per year.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed by the SDMC and the Indian Solar Energy Corporation for the installation of 10 KW solar rooftop plants in their buildings.
