Techno Digital Unveils Rs 83 Billion Data Centre in Chennai

Techno Digital, the digital infrastructure arm of Techno Electric & Engineering Company Ltd (TEECL), has inaugurated a state-of-the-art 36MW hyperscale data centre at SIPCOT IT Park, Siruseri, Chennai. The launch is part of the company’s Rs 83 billion (USD 1 billion) national investment commitment to develop future-ready, sustainable digital infrastructure across India.
Spread across 200,000 square feet, the new facility hosts approximately 2,400 high-density racks and is engineered to support flexible power densities ranging from 10 kW to over 50 kW per rack. This positions the centre as one of the country’s most advanced AI-ready infrastructures. Strategically located in Chennai’s IT corridor, the facility offers robust climate resilience and seamless connectivity to multiple cable landing stations and domestic internet networks.
Technical Highlights:
On-site 110 kV GIS substation with dual feeds from independent sources via underground cabling for enhanced reliability
State-of-the-art UPS systems, certified for NVIDIA’s GB200 series, powering IT loads
High-efficiency cooling with centrifugal water-cooled chillers and adiabatic towers, enabling superior PUE and reducing water usage by 75 per cent
Ankit Saraiya, Director and CEO of Techno Digital, remarked:
“Our AI-ready data centre in Chennai signifies a transformative step toward realising the Digital India vision. It reflects our strategic intent to create a future-ready digital ecosystem, empowered by our strength in power infrastructure and supported by Chennai’s progressive policies and rich talent base.”
India’s digital transformation—driven by increasing data consumption, cloud adoption, AI integration, and 5G rollout—requires a scalable and sustainable infrastructure backbone. Data centres are becoming foundational to this effort, offering secure, energy-efficient solutions that meet modern enterprise demands.
Amit Agrawal, President of Techno Digital, added:
“This hyperscale facility combines technology, engineering precision, and innovation. With hyper-availability, security, and sustainability at its core, the centre and our expanding Edge data centre network will shape India’s next-generation digital architecture.”
Padam Prakash Gupta, Managing Director of TEECL, further stated:
“This facility exemplifies our EPC expertise and financial discipline, strengthening our commitment to delivering long-term value and premium infrastructure to all stakeholders.”
Sustainability Focus:
The Chennai data centre sets a new benchmark for environmentally conscious digital infrastructure, dedicating 25 per cent of its site to green spaces—the first such initiative in the region. It features adiabatic cooling systems, energy-efficient façades, and advanced water treatment, recycling, and storage mechanisms to ensure responsible water use.
The facility meets Rated 3+ reliability standards and is confirmed for USGBC Gold certification, underscoring its environmental credentials and alignment with sustainable development goals.
