KUIDFC asks civic agencies to send project proposals

The Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) asked almost all civic agencies in the state to send proposals for ‘fresh’ infrastructure projects.

The corporation would in turn send the proposal to the central government for funds under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM).

The corporation, , which is the nodal agency for JnNURM, said that the centre gave time to send fresh proposals for infrastructure projects under the extension of the JnNURM scheme.

It may be noted that the state government used only 68 percent of the past allocation under the mission and many projects are delayed in Bangalore, Mysore etc. As on September 2012, the state government has utilised only 68 per cent of the funds released under JNNURM.

KUIDFC?is reportedly following up with the implementing agencies to get their proposals ratified by the state government, before sending them to the centre.

Already, Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is in the process of preparing the estimates for some of its infrastructure projects, including proposed elevated roads in the city, while BBMP?and BWSSB?are struggling to complete the projects taken up under the scheme previously. As per the project implementation status of JnNURM in Karnataka, of the 38 projects, only 23 have been completed.
