Assam CM unveils projects Sankardev's birth anniversary

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma marked the 575th birth anniversary of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev by unveiling several infrastructure projects at Batadrava Thaan. These projects, including a Satriya Sora, a conference hall, the Damodar Ata Tourist Guest House, and an office complex, were initiated on April 16, 2021, and completed in just 17 months at a total cost of Rs 220 million.

CM Sarma also launched a year-long celebration in honour of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev during the event. In his address, he paid tribute to the neo-Vaishnavite saint and stated that the Assam government is committed to developing Batadrava Thaan. Future plans include beautifying the ponds on the Thaan premises, and constructing parking facilities, and washrooms for devotees' convenience.

Additionally, Sarma announced plans to enact legislation preventing the sale and purchase of land within an eight-kilometre radius of Batadrava Thaan to non-indigenous communities, pending the implementation of the law. He highlighted the progress on developmental activities both inside and outside the Thaan premises, with approximately 81% of the work completed so far.

The first phase of the project had an estimated cost of Rs 500 million, with the second phase expected to require Rs 1.14 billion. Sarma also mentioned the government's commitment to beautifying 21 other sites related to Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev.

The event was attended by dignitaries, including Satradhikars from Salaguri Satra and Noruwa Satra, as well as members of the Assam Legislative Assembly.

But increasingly, new sounds are entering the mix: the quiet efficiency of algorithms, the hum of drones overhead, and the precision of robotic arms at work. Behind the concrete and cables, an invisible force is taking hold: data. It is turning blueprints into living simulations, managing fleets of machines, and helping engineers make decisions before a single brick is laid. This is not the construction of tomorrow; it is the architecture of today – built on ..
