Indian solar module manufacturer Bluebird Solar has secured a 278 megawatt (MW) module supply order from Bridge & Roof Company (India) Ltd for two projects being developed by SJVN. The contract covers supplies for a 133 MW project at Khavda in Gujarat and a 145 MW project at Nawa in Rajasthan and calls for 600 watt-peak (Wp) M10R N?Type TOPCon dual-glass bifacial solar photovoltaic (PV) modules. The company did not provide a delivery timeline for the latest order. Bluebird's leadership characterised the order as reflecting the firm's emphasis on quality, technology and project execution and indicated that the contract aligns with its strategy to support large-scale clean energy generation across India. The firm signalled a commitment to delivering high performance PV modules intended for utility-scale deployment and to maintaining standards for project delivery. The announcement follows wider industry moves in which public sector undertakings are emerging as significant customers for module suppliers. Bluebird Solar currently operates a two point five gigawatt (GW) automated solar PV module manufacturing facility at Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh. The facility supplies modules for utility-scale, commercial, industrial and residential projects across the country. As part of its expansion strategy, the firm plans to establish two point five GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity together with wafer and ingot production and intends to diversify into Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Industry observers have noted that demand from public sector purchasers can be critical to capacity utilisation for module makers that do not yet have integrated cell production, although margins for such suppliers are likely to be lower. Reporting indicates the SJVN projects are likely to fall outside mandatory domestic content requirements, which may affect procurement terms and supply chain considerations. Bluebird and Bridge & Roof are expected to confirm delivery schedules and further technical details in due course.
