Delhi Plans New Rs. 1.28 bn DTC Headquarters with Parking for 200 Buses

The Delhi government is constructing a new 11-storey headquarters for the Delhi Transport Corporation at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.28 bn, officials said. The proposed building at IP Estate will replace the corporation’s existing office, which officials have described as structurally outdated and inadequate for the requirements of Delhi’s expanding transport network.

The complex will be developed at the existing DTC headquarters site within the IP Estate Bus Depot. Construction is expected to take two years after the work is awarded. The building will comprise two basements, a ground floor and 11 storeys, providing a consolidated base for the corporation’s administrative and operational activities.

DTC signed an agreement with the Delhi State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation last December for construction of the headquarters. The Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation has now issued a tender inviting construction agencies to bid for the project. The tender process will precede the award of work and commencement of construction.

According to the tender document, the proposed development will cover 26,000 square metres. The operational area will account for 12,234 square metres, while the building itself will occupy 6,158 square metres. A green area measuring 9,681.71 square metres is planned, equivalent to 20 per cent of the total land, as part of the proposed campus design.

Under the memorandum of understanding, 50 per cent of the commercial usage rights will remain with the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation for 30 years. The new complex will provide basement parking for 200 buses and more than 200 cars. Planned facilities include firefighting systems, an audio-visual system, access controls, a CCTV network, lifts and high-side and low-side HVAC systems. The project is intended to provide DTC with updated office space, parking and support infrastructure at its existing IP Estate location.
