GMDA Finalises New Cloverleaf for Vatika Chowk

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority has finalised a new design for the Vatika Chowk cloverleaf to connect both ends of the elevated Southern Peripheral Road at Sohna Highway, officials said. The redesigned junction will be built on the lines of a multi-level trumpet flyover to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow from all directions.

GMDA officials said the project consultant has been asked to present a virtual model of the proposed structure to demonstrate real-time vehicle movement. The final design will be approved after the model presentation. As part of the broader SPR project, GMDA plans to construct elevated roads on two stretches—Ghata to Vatika Chowk and Vatika Chowk to NH 48—with the latter linking the SPR to the Dwarka Expressway and the Delhi–Jaipur Highway.

GMDA chief executive officer P C Meena said the proposed cloverleaf would enable seamless movement for vehicles from Faridabad Road, Golf Course Road, Sohna Highway and the Dwarka Expressway without detours or U-turns. He added that commuters from Faridabad would be able to travel towards Sohna Highway, the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, Gurugram and NH 48 while remaining on the elevated road, with traffic planned on both sides.

The revised design will also eliminate the need to acquire 2.15 acres of land required under the earlier plan. To expedite execution, GMDA plans to float the tender for the SPR stretch from Vatika Chowk to NH 48 by 15 January, with construction of the cloverleaf to begin alongside upper-deck works.

According to GMDA, the 5.3-km elevated SPR stretch from Vatika Chowk to NH 48 will cost around Rs 7.5 billion. Once completed, it will provide seamless connectivity from Sector 58 to Sector 115, benefiting nearly 50,000 vehicles that use the corridor daily.
