Ottobock and Celcius Set Up Prosthetics Warehouse in India

Celcius Logistics, a domestic third-party logistics (3PL) company specialising in end-to-end cold-chain solutions, has partnered with Ottobock India, the Indian arm of Germany-based Ottobock, to establish a dedicated prosthetics warehouse and logistics distribution hub in India. As part of the collaboration, a technology-enabled facility has been launched in Thane to streamline storage and nationwide movement of prosthetic and assistive devices.

The dedicated warehouse is expected to strengthen the medical supply chain by reducing turnaround time and improving access to prosthetic products across regions. Celcius Logistics will utilise its distribution network to manage deliveries to Ottobock clinics and partners across India, ensuring faster fulfilment and improved service coverage.

The 3,000 sq ft facility includes ambient storage infrastructure, 110 slotted angle racks and over 700 bin locations. It also features a 100 sq ft temperature-controlled storage zone for sensitive medical materials. Built to support standard quality and handling protocols, the facility can manage over 2,000 SKUs and enable distribution to 24 clinics and more than 200 independent partners, including associations linked to the Government of India.

Prosthetic components require careful handling and controlled storage conditions to maintain durability, integrity and performance. The inclusion of temperature-controlled space ensures that sensitive materials are stored appropriately, supporting consistent product quality during distribution.

Under the five-year agreement, Celcius will oversee end-to-end warehouse operations and transportation. The company will deploy its in-house warehouse management system (WMS) and transport management system (TMS) to manage inbound and outbound movement, inventory control, and pan-India distribution. The facility is exclusively dedicated to Ottobock and is already operational.

Commenting on the partnership, Swarup Bose, Founder & CEO, Celcius Logistics, said, “This partnership reflects how healthcare supply chains in India are evolving towards greater precision, reliability, and accountability. At Celcius, we are focused on building infrastructure that can consistently support the movement of high-value, sensitive medical products at scale. By combining our technology-led logistics capabilities with Ottobock’s global expertise, we are enabling a more robust and responsive distribution ecosystem.”

Mats Frank, Head of Cluster Asia-South and Managing Director, Ottobock India, added, “For us, supply chain reliability is directly linked to patient outcomes. As we continue to expand our presence in India, having a partner like Celcius strengthens our ability to deliver critical prosthetic solutions with consistency and speed. This alliance gives us a scalable, future-ready logistics backbone aligned with the standards we uphold globally. Particularly, the use of e-vehicles for delivery is one more step towards our commitment to the environment.”

The partners also plan to expand warehouse capacity by 25% over the next year, aligned with increasing demand and operational scale. The collaboration highlights a shared focus on building technology-driven healthcare logistics infrastructure and improving nationwide access to essential medical devices.
