GMDA re-invites bids for six projects in last one month

In the last month, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) re-invited bids for a minimum of six projects pertaining to different reasons, but mostly due to the costs that have been quoted by the bidding contractors are very high.

A few projects for which tenders are reinvited include construction of master road and roadside drain in Sector 70A (outer), construction of a master dividing road of Sector 82/82A (missing link), construction of RCC box drain for road crossing at Iffco Chowk (NH-48) Gurugram, desilting of master stormwater drain from sector dividing road 43/44 along with Sector 44, construction of RCC box type culvert at Saraswati Vihar in Sector -53, and a few other projects.

GMDA CEO, Sudhir Rajpal told the media that for some projects, they did not get the right contractors or received only one or two contractors. But primarily, the cost quoted for the projects was very high. GMDA cannot hire contractors since they have a fixed amount for executing each project. Therefore, the tenders are now re-invited. While planning any project, they estimate a time loss of about two months for such situations. They will try to speed up the process for the earliest commencement of the projects without any further delay.

In the last few weeks, tenders were invited twice for some of the projects, like the construction of the RCC box drain and the construction of master roads in new sectors.
