Hindustan Zinc Launches Inclusive Language Guide to Promote Workplace Diversity

Udaipur, 3rd July 2025: Hindustan Zinc Limited (NSE: HINDZINC), the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, has made a significant stride towards enhancing workplace equity with the launch of its Guidebook to Inclusive Language. This move underscores the company’s strong commitment to creating a respectful, diverse, and inclusive work environment. The guidebook serves as a framework to encourage inclusive communication, promote sensitivity towards various communities, and support equitable practices throughout the organization.

The Guidebook was launched on Hindustan Zinc’s homegrown #Zinclusion platform, which aims to embrace diversity in all forms, including LGBTQIA+, differently-abled individuals, and people from various geographies and ethnicities. The launch featured a panel discussion on ‘Allyship,’ led by the company’s CEO Arun Misra and Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Retired Air Commodore, AIF Member, and Transgender Healthcare & Social Inclusion Activist.

Hindustan Zinc has pioneered LGBTQIA+ inclusion within the industry with progressive workplace policies. These include offering financial support of up to INR 1 lakh for LGBTQIA+ community employees and INR 2 lakhs for gender reaffirmation, along with leave policies for transgender employees undergoing gender reassignment surgery. The company also provides comprehensive policies for parenthood and housing.

The company’s use of Industry 4.0, robotics, and automation has standardized work processes, eliminating manual interventions and providing valuable career advancement opportunities in this high-growth sector.

Dr. Sanjay Sharma added, “Language has the power to either create barriers or open doors. Hindustan Zinc’s Inclusive Language Guidebook is a powerful step toward building a culture of respect, dignity, and belonging. I also commend the Buddy System implemented by the company to embed inclusion in a sustainable way.”
