India To Host Global AI Summit In February 2026

The Government is advancing an inclusive, innovation-led approach to Artificial Intelligence, aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of democratising technology for public benefit. India’s AI strategy has been shaped through extensive consultations and a review of global legal frameworks, with a focus on applying AI to real-world challenges and improving lives across sectors. A key element of this strategy is a balanced techno-legal approach to regulation.

As part of this vision, India will host the India–AI Impact Summit 2026 from 16–20 February in New Delhi. It will mark the first time the global AI summit series is held in the Global South, reflecting India’s growing influence in international AI discussions. The event follows global engagements such as the UK AI Safety Summit, the AI Seoul Summit, the Paris AI Action Summit—which India co-chaired—and the Global AI Summit on Africa, underscoring India’s role in shaping global cooperation on responsible AI.

The Summit’s agenda is structured around seven thematic ‘Chakras’: Human Capital, Inclusion, Safe and Trusted AI, Resilience, Innovation and Efficiency, Democratising AI Resources and AI for Economic Development and Social Good. These themes cover issues such as safety, data governance, transparency, human-centric development and accountability, guiding the Summit’s deliberations.

The objective is to develop actionable recommendations for long-term AI governance rather than immediate binding regulations.

This information was provided by the Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Jitin Prasada, in a reply in the Lok Sabha.

Dhalbhumgarh Airport Faces 150-km Rule Hurdle

The issue has resurfaced following a recent statement by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, who said that under existing aviation policy, a new greenfield airport is generally not permitted within an aerial distance of 150 kilometres of an operational civilian airport. He added, however, that if a formal proposal is submitted, its impact on the existing airport can be examined and relaxations may be considered on a case-by-case basis. While the clarification has revived some hope for Dhalbhumgarh, it has also underlined the scale of the technical challenge facing the project. Unde..
