PM Modi Leads Rs 38.80 Bn Push to Modernise Ancient Kashi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently launched development projects worth Rs 38.8 bn in Kashi, giving the ancient city a contemporary boost. From road widening and school upgrades to new power stations, the sacred city is undergoing a dramatic transformation.

While embracing modern infrastructure, Kashi continues to cherish its deep cultural and spiritual roots. Between 2014 and March 2025, 580 projects have been undertaken under the Kashi Development initiative, amounting to an investment of Rs 484.59 billion—aimed at infrastructure enhancement, heritage conservation and promoting tourism in Varanasi.
