State govt extends Swarnim Jayanti Urban Development Scheme
Initiated in the fiscal year 2009-10 to celebrate Gujarat's 50th anniversary, this program has sanctioned more than 2.84 lakh projects worth Rs 48,736 crore over the past 13 years. As of now, a budget of Rs 57,000 crore has been approved for this flagship scheme. The decision to extend the program for an additional three years, from 2024-25 to 2026-27, reflects its significant success and widespread support from the public, according to a government statement.
On October 15, the state government declared the extension of the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, a scheme aimed at enhancing the infrastructure of cities and towns by providing them with necessary funds.
