Syensqo Expands UL-Validated Circular Fluids Portfolio

Syensqo has expanded its circular high-performance fluids portfolio with UL Environmental Claim Validation under UL 2809 for Fomblin Y. The validation, obtained in September 2026, builds on verification secured in 2025 for selected high-performance elastomers and lubricant fluids.

Around 40 per cent of the fluorine content allocated to the newly validated products through mass balance accounting comes from post-industrial recycled hydrofluoric acid. This approach accounts for recycled feedstock allocated to products through the production system.

The company said recovering fluorine from industrial waste supports the objectives of the EU Critical Raw Materials Act by reducing dependence on virgin resources and strengthening European supply chains. Fluorspar, the primary mineral source of fluorine, is recognised as a critical raw material under the Act.

Syensqo is also investing in its Spinetta Marengo manufacturing site in Italy to enhance recycling capabilities and increase fluorine recovery. The investment will support the availability of recycled raw materials for its speciality polymers portfolio.

Tom Wood, Vice President, Head of Product and Asset Management at Syensqo, said the portfolio expansion and investment respond to customer demand for resource efficiency and supply-chain resilience. The company aims to increase recycled raw material use while maintaining performance and reliability in demanding industrial applications."
