UIDAI Showcases New Aadhaar App for Offline Verification

The Unique Identification Authority of India has recently held a webinar on offline verification using the soon-to-be-launched Aadhaar App, with more than 250 entities and participants joining the session. UIDAI outlined how the new app will enable secure, paperless identity sharing, offering users the flexibility to verify and share complete or selective Aadhaar information.
UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar said the effort aims to promote a robust offline verification ecosystem and reduce reliance on photocopied Aadhaar documents, helping curb fraud. Officials explained the app’s technical framework, integration pathways and potential applications including hotel check-ins, society entry and event access.
The session also highlighted features such as QR-based verification, offline face authentication, and the ability to store Aadhaar details of up to five family members. Users will have full control over what data is shared, along with quick biometric lock/unlock options and easy update tools for contact and address details.
Participants received guidance on exploring use cases and onboarding as Offline Verification Seeking Entities. UIDAI said further enhancements will be introduced with the launch of the Aadhaar App to expand secure digital identity services nationwide.
