Vedanta Aluminium, V-Spark Target Rs 21 Billion Value Through Deep Tech

Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, along with V-Spark, India’s largest manufacturing deep tech incubator, has announced multiple technology partnerships aimed at accelerating AI, automation and digital transformation across its operations. The initiatives, unveiled during MetALverse, a technology showcase held in Jharsuguda, Odisha, are expected to unlock up to Rs 2,100 crore in value through the adoption of advanced technologies.

The event brought together global technology leaders, emerging startups and industry experts to identify, evaluate and scale next-generation solutions for large-scale industrial operations. The collaborations will focus on improving plant productivity, cost optimisation, asset reliability and sustainability across Vedanta Aluminium’s integrated value chain.

Through MetALverse, Vedanta Aluminium and V-Spark aim to bridge the gap between deep tech innovation and industrial deployment by testing technologies in live operating environments and accelerating their adoption. The company’s integrated operations, spanning mining, alumina refining and aluminium production, will serve as a large-scale testing environment for these innovations.

Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Non-Executive Director, Vedanta Limited and Chairperson, Hindustan Zinc, said, “India’s manufacturing sector is entering a defining decade. The future will belong to companies that combine scale with intelligence, sustainability and the courage to rethink what is possible. At Vedanta Aluminium, we see AI as a catalyst for that transformation, with human intelligence providing the judgement and direction behind it.”

The company has partnered with leading technology providers including OpenAI for generative AI and intelligent agents, Microsoft for cloud and AI transformation, SAP for enterprise processes, AVEVA for digital twins and industrial analytics, Rockwell Automation for smart manufacturing solutions, Thoughtworks for digital engineering and Fives for aluminium process technologies.

Vedanta Aluminium has also collaborated with deep-tech startups including Ripik.AI, XYMA, Faclon, DesignX, DigitalPaani, AutoVRse, Enmovil and ideaForge to develop solutions across industrial vision, asset monitoring, factory workflows, water optimisation, workforce training, logistics and drone-based intelligence.

Akarsh Hebbar, Non-Executive Vice Chairman, Vedanta Aluminium and Chairman, V-Spark DeepTech Ventures, said, “The greatest opportunity in industrial innovation lies in deploying new technologies at scale to create measurable business value. Vedanta Aluminium provides the operating footprint, technical depth and scale required to industrialise breakthrough solutions, while V-Spark enables the identification, validation and acceleration of these technologies.”

The collaborations will cover technology evaluation, data integration, pilot implementation and enterprise-scale deployment. Through the V-Spark ecosystem, Vedanta Aluminium is currently working with nearly 70 startups across its major facilities, including the alumina refinery at Lanjigarh, the world’s largest single-location aluminium plant at Jharsuguda and BALCO in Korba, Chhattisgarh.

The company aims to leverage AI-led manufacturing, automation and digital intelligence to improve operational efficiency, safety, sustainability and decision-making across its aluminium production ecosystem.
