Patel Engineering Secures Rs 1,263.7 Million Tasgaon Contract

Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation has issued a Letter of Award to a joint venture including Patel Engineering Limited for the Tasgaon Lift Irrigation Scheme, formalising the contract award and enabling project execution to commence. The total contract value stands at Rs 1,263.7 million, with Patel Engineering Limited holding a Rs 644.5 mn share representing 51 per cent, after having earlier been declared the lowest bidder. The company has advised that the award follows standard procurement processes and is not unpublished price sensitive information, and that the contract will be executed in the normal course of business.

The project has been conceived to strengthen irrigation infrastructure in Satara district and to enhance water availability to support agricultural development across the command area. It is expected to improve irrigation access across multiple villages and to contribute to higher agricultural productivity and longer term rural development in the region. The work is intended to provide more reliable water distribution and to support existing agrarian livelihoods.

The scope of work covers construction of an irrigation and water distribution system for a command area of 2,277 hectares across six villages in Satara Taluka, including Tasgaon, Varne, Karandwadi, Devkarwadi, Degaon and Nigadi. The contract includes headworks, pump houses, switchyards, rising mains, delivery chambers and pumping machinery together with associated civil, mechanical and electrical works. A closed pipe distribution network will form part of the delivery system, encompassing excavation, laying and jointing of MS, PCCP and HDPE pipelines.

The project is scheduled for completion within 48 months and will be delivered through coordinated construction, mechanical installation and electrical commissioning phases. Patel Engineering Limited, established in 1949 and with a seventy seven year operating history, has a track record across hydropower, tunnelling and irrigation sectors. The company has previously completed more than eighty five dams, forty hydroelectric projects and over three hundred km of tunnelling for central public sector units and state government organisations.
